• magisterrex Retro Games

I've been gaming since the days of Pong and still own a working Atari 2600 (among other elder statesmen systems!). I tend to ramble on about retro games, whether they be board games, video games or PC games. Sometimes I digress. Decades after earning it, I'm finally putting the skills I learned while completing my history degree from the University of Victoria to good use. Or so I think. If you're into classic old school gaming, this blog is for you!

Advertising From Yesteryear…Bonk’s Adventure

Once upon a time the NEC TurboGrafx-16 video game system seemed poised to enter and dominate the North American console gaming market.  Alas, it was not to be.  Recognizing the link between comic book readers and video game players, Hudson Soft paid for a two-page spread advertising their game, Bonk’s Adventure, in a comic format, in popular titles, such as this one, found in Todd McFarlane’s Spider-Man (Issue #3, October 1990).  Click on the image below to enjoy a larger version!

  1. This is so cool!
Too bad the TurboGrafx-16 was never sold here in Brazil. Few were able to play it here at that time.
It was always cool to see games advertisements in comic books and magazines!
