• magisterrex Retro Games

I've been gaming since the days of Pong and still own a working Atari 2600. I tend to ramble on about retro games, whether they be board games, video games or PC games. Sometimes I digress. Decades after earning it, I'm finally putting the skills I learned while completing my history degree from the University of Victoria to good use. Or so I think. If you're into classic old school gaming, this blog is for you!

Quick Hits: 10 Years Ago – The Top 10 Video Games of 1999

As a retro gamer, it’s fun to look back in time and see what was all the rage in the video game world.   10 years ago one company ruled the charts – Nintendo. Have a look at the Top Ten Best-Selling video games from 1999 chart below and you’ll see the mighty Nintendo of America company holding fast to the top six slots, and having 7 out of the top 10 games over all.  And it’s pretty clear that the Pokemon craze was in full swing in 1999 as 4 out of 10 of the top titles are Pokemon-related.

Looking over the list, are there any of these games that still hold a special place in your collection?  Any that bring back fond memories?  Or any that you’d like to hunt down the programmers and prevent them from ever releasing any more horrors into the gaming universe?
